Guidance for in-person church services

We are delighted that we are able to open up our building again for some of our church family to gather in our building for church each week.

Booking System

We have implemented a booking system for attending our church services.  Tickets can be obtained from the event page, through the calendar on our website, through Church Suite or by calling the office on 0191 3709063.  We have limited capacity in the building and for those who cannot join us, all our church services will be available on Zoom.

As you are no doubt aware, the government has set out specific guidelines for Church Services at this time. This document aims to explain some of these, so that you know what to expect in attending the service.

What to expect

In order to facilitate social distancing and prevent congestion in the street, we will be asking the congregation to arrive at staggered times.  Entrance will be via the main front doors of the church building.  There will be hand sanitizer available as you arrive and the welcome team will direct you to your seats.

The law currently states that those attending should wear a face covering unless they are exempt from doing so and the congregation are advised not to sing.  In line with the current guidance, socialising within a place of worship can happen between two households or a group of 6 people.  Socialising can also happen outside in groups of up to 30.  In both cases, social distancing should be maintained between different households.

When the service is concluded, please could you take your service sheet and all your belongings with you.  The congregation will leave through the main doors at the back of the auditorium as directed by the welcome team.

In the event that you should develop symptoms of COVID-19 before Sunday we would ask that you do not attend.  In the event you develop symptoms during the service, we would ask that you and anyone in your household leave and let a member of staff know.  If you feel unwell to the point you are unable to leave, we will seek medical advice on your behalf.  In order to comply with the Government's Test & Trace program, we will keep a register of attendance for 21 days after each Sunday.  Should you develop symptoms within this time, please let us know and we will follow the guidance on what to do in this scenario.

Many thanks,

Christchurch Durham.
